POC Hemoglobin A1C Machine

Medline is offering  "free placement" of several of their A1C machines.  I am having trouble finding any data on which machines are more reliable/accurate.  Does anyone know if it matters which brand A1C testing device you use? Or have been using a machine they are happy with?

    Thanks,

    Thomas

I am using the A1C Now+ kits. They work well but the controls are pricey. I've determined that to minimize my cost, it's best to order a years supply of the kits before the control soln outdates.

    Tom and / or Tracy,

Can you inform us about cost of strips and reimbursement - especially Medicare and some privates / HMOs.

    Thanks,

The medicare reimbursement is about $13 and test kits are about $7.  From what I have read the accuracy for the Afinion is the best, followed by Seinemsn then A1C now but I think the latter 2 are considerably cheaper.  I also think the A1C now kit is very portable.   Medline offers free placement with contract of Afinion (at least in my area)
