If you are new to IMP, or just new to IMPCenter, or wanting to say hi to old friends after a long period of lurking, this is the place.  Please tell us about yourself, your practice, and how you found IMP.

I technically am breaking rules because I am not the doc, I am the business partner. If that is unacceptable,  please accept my apology and I will delete my account. But I do love this concept, and indeed think there needs to be more of this in the country.

Our model is a bit different. My doc and I are co-founders of the practice -- I handle operations.. I eliminate admin burden from doc so he can just practice. We run lean like a startup (my background) and are growing like crazy. I would love to share thoughts

You're not breaking rules. This is an organization for any and all who believe in our mission and our goals- keeping small independents alive and thriving. As we say 'staying independent .... together"

Many of us have models of a medical person with others helping with the business side. Many of have envy for those with a good business person :)

So yes, please join in. Your perspective will be helpful to us all. We'd love to hear more from your business side.

I do ask, given you state you find us valuable and important, please consider becoming my a paid member. It's easy- you just click on the button the website. It's only $250/ year and we think money well spent given we're the only primary care focused group in the country providing a place for us all. And we think helpful resources also. And you know how it works- everything takes money to happen.

    Thanks. And welcome again.

Hi. I am a super lurker here, but a paying member, so I don't feel too creepy about it.

I do not run an IMP and never have, but I hope to one day. I'm actually employed in Correctional Health at the moment and the work is compelling enough to keep me there for a while.

I joined this group because I fully embrace the philosophy of the low overhead, high value, relationship-based medicine that has such potential to make such a big difference in people's lives (not just patients, but doctors, too).

When I first found you all, I was just leaving residency and was going to do the unspeakable and hang a shingle on my own or with a colleague or two, but I got distracted. I was exploring DPC options, having been demoralized by billing and insurance. I still think an IMP is the answer to all my questions, but the stars are not aligned just yet. I thoroughly enjoy all your commentaries, and read them avidly. I continue to be horrified by insurance and the mess we are in nationally and am glad I'm not trying to find my way through all those acronyms you who take insurance are struggling with.

I have a letter that I found in a yard sale hanging on the wall of my kitchen. It was written in 1905 and is penned by a dairy farmer to her doctor asking if he will accept a quart of milk per day until her debt to him is paid. I look at it every day. Someday I want to be the doctor who would happily be paid in milk.

    Hello all,
I have been a member of this forum since July 2017. Sorry for my late introduction! I am a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner who just decided to open a small solo practice in Maryland. I decided to do this after 16 years as an employed Nurse Practitioner. I must confess that establishing the business has been much more tedious than anticipated. Nevertheless, I have been persevering and just saw my first patient last week.

Just to tell you a bit more about me, I am also a lawyer (only do pro bono work) and I have certification in Health Care Compliance. This has burdened me with the knowledge of the regulations that govern healthcare. So much so, that I have decided not to take any form of health insurance.

I am passionate about psychiatry and the transformative effect of good care within a well-forged therapeutic relationship.
