I am an newly graduated NP with a great deal of primary care experience. For the last 5 years my friend and I have been running a clinic screening for STI/Diabetes/HTN and other illnesses in a medically undeserved area. We use education, group support and prayer and medication to improve life style issues.
With my recent graduation we have the opportunity to bill for some services. About 30% of our clients have insurance and come to use for advice and other services and we would like to capitalize on that. We currently use practice fusion and receive support from donations and have cheap overhead.
1. Any advice on how to maximize practice fusion's capabilities? We used it as record but never activated it for billing, online appts etc.
2. Any advice on things to do or not do that will make a practice successful especially in regard to free care. We want to operate a hybrid business--offering free care or sliding fee to those who cant pay but bill insurance?
3. Any articles you would recommend?
