Message: I found a very old HP (1980s) on Craigslist for $100. There a few used medical supply stores. It still works. I do not do much inhouse testing; however, determining ED now versus other plan would be difficult otherwise. Also, for QTC monitoring for potential medication interactions for needed medications-for patients with severe depression-risk/benefit analysis would be difficult without it. I am solo (no front desk or MA).

Hi Melissa
I'm in a similar practice situation (one room/no clinical staff) and I do EKG's myself.  We have a MAC 1200 machine--it's pretty old but it works. I think we bought it used from Seattle Surgical Supply.  It probably takes me 8-10 min from set up to print. We charge $35 and get paid around $24 per EKG.

In the end after buying a machine, the lead stickers, and your time it's probably not worth it financially but I do feel I need to have the capacity to perform EKG's for patient care.

No?  How does that work out then for your patients?

Yes? What is your flow to make this work?
And what equipment/technology do you use?
Does billing work out for the time?

We have one room per provider and no medical staff.
I haven't been able to see how we can do them but its gotten a bit silly that we don't.

I'm hopeful this group has good solutions to help me see outside the box.
